Compare the complete system cost, not just the software fee. An existing compatible computer can be a useful starting point; a dedicated HUB can make a permanent installation easier to operate.
Software and hardware are separate choices
- Annual software license: for a supported host you provide.
- Multi-year software: select the offered term before purchasing.
- HUB kits: configured hardware with the included license and interfaces specified on each product page.
Use those pages for current prices, term details and included items. Do not assume unlimited installations or a three-machine entitlement from an older blog paragraph. Confirm activation and transfer terms for your purchase with support.
Budget the rest of the rig
Allow for interfaces, network equipment, lights, cables, cases and installation. Above AVL products in the store may ship separately from DMXSmartLink HUBs. Shipping and tax depend on the order and checkout.
Compatibility affects cost
Homebridge and Home Assistant provide integration paths, not blanket support for every device they list. A light may expose brightness without its proprietary effects. Matter or Zigbee branding alone does not establish an end-to-end supported configuration; check the integration, controller and required radio or network equipment.
Evaluate before choosing a term
During the trial, test the actual fixture modes, desired smart-light controls and operator workflow. Check ordinary scene recall separately from saved AI setups and beta control-surface features. Verify what continues to work if a cloud service is unavailable.
Budget training and recovery alongside the license. Contact support about your deployment rather than inferring performance, permitted activations or contractual support guarantees from a general pricing article.
Check your version and your lights
DMXSmartLink runs on supported macOS, Windows 11, Ubuntu and Raspberry Pi 5 systems, or on a preconfigured HUB. It accepts Art-Net and sACN input and provides Art-Net output; physical DMX requires a supported interface. Smart-light functions depend on the model and integration, including Homebridge or Home Assistant. The bundled Home Assistant companion on Pi/Ubuntu is experimental. Cloud integrations require internet; local paths have their own compatibility requirements.
